Separating hype from reality
Myth vs. fact.
Regenerative wellness is one of the most over-marketed categories in health. Here are the claims you’ll hear — and the honest reality behind each one.
We’d rather lose your interest with the truth than earn it with a claim we can’t stand behind. Every “myth” below is a real thing operators say. None of it is something we’ll tell you.
“It’s an FDA-approved stem cell therapy.”
No regenerative tissue product is FDA-approved to treat, cure, or prevent osteoarthritis or any other disease. A lab can be FDA-registered — meaning the facility is registered and inspected — and that is not the same as the FDA approving a treatment. Anyone blurring those two words is misinforming you.
“It regrows your cartilage and reverses arthritis.”
No product is proven to regrow cartilage or reverse arthritis. Researchers are studying how carefully sourced human tissue products relate to the body’s own repair systems — that is an open area of science, not an established result.
“The ‘stem cells’ in the product are alive and rebuild your joint.”
Many tissue-allograft products are acellular — the “stem cell” label is often marketing language, not an accurate description of what’s in the vial. Ask precisely what a product is, and ask for the documentation.
“Results are guaranteed.”
Results vary from person to person. In the published research, some people report improvement and some studies show no lasting benefit. Anyone guaranteeing an outcome is telling you something the evidence does not support.
“It’s a proven alternative to surgery.”
Regenerative wellness is not established as a replacement for surgery or any conventional care. It is an area of active study. Whether any approach fits your situation is a clinical judgment for a licensed provider — ideally alongside your own doctor.
“You have to decide tonight to get this price.”
Same-day pressure is the most common red flag in this category. A real decision can wait for a private evaluation and a conversation with your own doctor. If a decision needs to happen today, it’s the wrong decision.
“One product is as good as any other.”
Sourcing, screening, processing, and documentation vary enormously. Whether there is a named, FDA-registered lab and a Certificate of Analysis for the specific lot is exactly the kind of thing worth asking about.
The honest headline
No regenerative tissue product is FDA-approved to treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Renvi’s events exist to help you understand the science and ask better questions — not to sell you a treatment.
Renvi Health is a management services organization. Clinical care, if any, is provided by independently licensed healthcare providers. Tissue products are regulated as Section 361 HCT/Ps under 21 CFR Part 1271 and are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Information on this page is educational and is not medical advice. Results vary and are not guaranteed. All decisions should be made with a licensed medical provider.
